Full Job Description
The Producer will be an essential member of our political show team, responsible for developing engaging content, booking high-profile guests, and crafting scripts that resonate with our audience. This role demands a strong understanding of the political landscape, exceptional journalistic instincts, and the ability to produce content that aligns with UnHerd's unique approach and ethos.
- Research and develop story ideas that align with the show's format and objectives.
- Book and pre-interview high-profile politicians, experts, and other significant figures in politics.
- Write and edit scripts for episodes, ensuring accuracy, engagement, and alignment with our editorial standards.
- Liaise with the host and production team to coordinate show logistics.
- Be the on site liaison for remote production team and carry out basic production/filming tasks.
- Monitor political events, trends, and developments to ensure our coverage is timely and relevant.
- Foster relationships with political insiders, experts, and other sources to enhance our content's quality and exclusivity.
- Clip, package and promote the show's content and clips on social media.
Salary dependent on experience.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Political Science, Communications, or related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in journalism or media production, with a focus on politics.
- Proven track record of booking high-profile guests and developing compelling storylines.
- Strong understanding of the political landscape, key players, and current issues.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
- Proven technical production knowledge.
- Track record of producing compelling clips/marketing content for similar talk/political shows.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Deep knowledge of and alignment UnHerd values and mission.
