Your Team
As our Senior Application Safety Engineer you will join our safety case development team, where we create Oxa's Safety case.
Your Role
As an Application Safety Engineer you will work to develop safety measures / considerations for the Core Safety Case. Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing processes, templates and ways of working for customisation of the core safety approach to be used by all the safety relevant applications.
- Be the first point of contact and support for the application safety engineers allocated to the various safety relevant teams.
- Incorporate lessons learnt from across the business into the core safety engineering approach, be reactive and manage change to minimise disruption to operations whilst maintaining safety.
- Contribute to the core safety engineering approach focusing especially on the areas of human factors, defensive driving and product safety.
- Help create specific safety case content and other safety work products as needed for the teams.
- Contribute to the core safety approach on performing safety impact analyses, base vehicle safety evaluations and safety interfaces, human safety relevant interfaces.
- Set up the basis for the customisation of the core safety approach as applicable to other teams through their application safety engineers, including supporting parametrisation, specific safety validation and any other safety related activities.
Requirements
What you need to succeed:
- Degree in a relevant field such as engineering or science.
- Practical experience in hazard identification, risk mitigation identification and risk assessments.
- Understanding of how human behaviours can potentially lead to hazardous scenarios with respects to both the driving tasks but also interactions with complex systems.
- Understanding of the larger safety scope beyond electronics and into overall product safety.
- Experience in different methods for verification and validation and understand the associated benefits and challenges with each type.
- Understanding of the concept of defensive driving and correlation with safety.
- Experience in metrics and data analysis
- Experience with projects in the field of Autonomous vehicles or robotics
Extra kudos:
- Experience in research and development, autonomous driving
- Familiar with industry relevant safety standards including ISO 26262, ISO 21448, UL4600, PAS 1881:2022 SAE J3016.

The base pay range for this position is expected to be between $110,000 - $130,000 USD per year. However, base pay offered may vary depending on factors such as skills, job-related knowledge and location.
