Full Job Description

We are seeking a friendly, empathetic and detail-oriented Authorization Coordinator to join our team at Parx Home Care. As a leading home care agency servicing Miami-Dade counties in Florida, our mission is to provide peace of mind to families knowing their loved ones are receiving the best care possible. As our Authorization coordinator, you will be instrumental in improving the quality of life for those requiring long-term care while allowing them to preserve their independence and dignity in their own homes. Your prospective commitment to evaluate, plan, and coordinate care will inevitably result in a favorable health outcome for every client.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for answering incoming agency phone calls.

• Requests continuation authorization for patients who have needs outside of permitted

authorization given by the insurance provider at the point of admission or recertification.

• Responsible for uploading new authorization into the EMR system.

• Communicates with the whole office team during standup on the status of all outstanding

visits needing auth.

• Enters communication notes of all attempts to obtain auth in the patient’s record.

• Acts as a backup for the Staffing Coordinator when needed.

• Acts as a backup for the Intake Coordinator as needed.

• Communicates with DON to obtain Plan of Care for additional authorization requests on

admission and recert events.

• Communicates with field clinicians on authorization updates as it pertains to the treatment

of their patients.

• Orders supplies for managed care patients when identified by the Director of Nursing or

admission clinician.

• Enters communication notes into the EMR system for every conversation pertaining to a

patient.

• Completes complaint or incident form when a call is received relating to one or the other

and gives to the DO for follow-up.

• Takes administrative on-call on a rotation throughout the agency.

Requirements

  • At least 2-3 years of experience in healthcare industry, preferably in the home care
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Bilingual (Spanish)
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities
  • Knowledge of employment laws and regulations
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to work with diverse people.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
