The Data Manager develops and governs data-oriented systems designed to meet the needs of an organization or team in a specific function or domain. The role of a data manager is focused on implementing enterprise and domain specific data management policies and maintaining the quality of the data within their scope of responsibility. Must be willing to travel at least 25%.
Data Manager will perform the following duties:
- Recommend and nominate data initiatives and data requirements that can support the mission objectives
- Identify and define analytics efforts to support mission objectives
- Determine (search and identify) data sources providing data that satisfy the data needs and requirements of missions and initiatives
- Nominate the data and sources for Data Steward approval
- Ensure data and sources are integrated into the data architecture, and the data architecture is represented in appropriate Enterprise Architecture documentation
- Define/propose acquisition policies and processes
- Acquire data via APIs
- Ensure collection policies, processes, and standards are met
- Implement transformation or curation processes
- Implement user authorizations, access controls, and update permissions
- Select the tools, technology, and platforms for data storage
- Direct and manage data interoperability and integration
- Update, maintain, and refresh data, as needed (e.g., DBA)
- Assess, cleanse, and curate data
- Respond to consumer feedback, particularly on data quality and data access issues
- Direct and record the different uses (e.g., data analytics initiatives, applications) and users of the data
- Select the tools and technology required to apply/use the data
- Monitor and log data provided to consumers
- Solicit, receive, and respond to data consumer feedback
- Develop, manage, operate, and maintain API/services with appropriate security /access controls (e.g., ICAM)
- Provide data to consumer in standard format (e.g., NIEM) as feasible and appropriate
- Ensure exchanged data is secure
- Evaluate the conditions for data archival and disposal and archive or dispose of data if conditions are met
Requirements
- Candidate must be willing to travel a minimum of 25%.
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field or Business Administration, with a minimum of 1-year experience.
- A Certified Data Management Professional certification is preferred.
- Experience providing services similar in required tasks, scope, and complexity.
- At least a Secret Clearance is required, while Top Secret clearance eligible for SCI is preferred.
