Full Job Description
· Repair and replace damaged or worn parts
· Dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment using hoists and hand tools
· Operate and inspect machines or heavy equipment to diagnose defects
· Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers' specifications
· Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles
· Read and understand operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings
· Overhaul and test machines or equipment to ensure operating efficiency
· Fit bearings to adjust, repair, or overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment
· Diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs, using engine diagnostic equipment such as computerized test equipment and calibration devices
· Examine parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges
Requirements
· Work in dusty or dirty surrounding
· Workers must be able to stoop, bend, crouch and crawl; use hands, arms and legs fully; grasp, manipulate, and assemble small objects; see and hear well (either naturally or with correction)
· Lift up to 50 pounds with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing 50 pounds
· Ability to be away from home for long periods of time
· Valid Driver’s license and good driving record
· Must have own tools
Education and Experience:
High school diploma preferred two-three years relevant experience.
Safety Considerations:
Typically works 12 hours per day, 6-7 days per week in extreme hot and cold environments after acclimatization. Wears all required personal protective equipment on daily basis. May be exposed to snakes, insects and similar with PPE and protective clothing/creams provided to minimize exposure. May be required to work on variable terrain in performance of duties. Valid driver’s license and good driving record essential if required to operate motor vehicle. Must meet Federal DOT requirements if required to drive large trucks that require CDL license. May be required to drive at night. Routinely lifts/carries up to 50 pounds unassisted on daily basis.
· May be required to enter enclosed and/or confined spaces where respiratory protective equipment may be required. Training and personal protective equipment provided prior to working in such spaces.
· Routinely exposed to hazardous materials essential to performing maintenance duties. Personal protective equipment provided and must be worn to minimize exposure
· May be required to enter trenches and/or excavations after receiving appropriate training.
· May be required to work alone.
