The Role:
The role of a National Safety Manager is to act as a resource for coworkers about how to uphold regulatory safety standards and complete tasks while limiting the risk of bodily injury. Safety Managers share knowledge with their team by conducting training and creating informational materials they post around the workplace.
Safety Managers also handle administrative aspects of workplace safety, such as applying for permits, purchasing safety equipment, and investing in designs that limit risk. They confirm that all of their employees have the appropriate certifications to operate heavy machinery and set standards for testing and maintenance to prevent dangerous malfunctions.
This position is a vital addition to our team, playing an essential role in keeping our team members safe and productive.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Create safety training for employees on policies, regulations, and procedures.
- Develop a robust and comprehensive Injury Illness Prevention Plan (IIPP)
- Advise the company’s administrative team on safety issues and compliance in operations.
- Inspect and verify company compliance with relevant safety regulations.
- Maintain accurate and current records in accordance with guidelines (OSHA logs).
- Analyze incident reports, metrics, and injury case studies to institute changes that lead to a safer environment.
- Manage Incident Tracker
- Manage Root Cause Analysis
- Assist with the management of Safety Scorecards for each market
- Manages, guides, and supports the efforts of the various departmental Safety Committees
- Manages warehouse audits and inspections to ensure compliance, evaluate performance, identify corrective action, and implement follow-up assessments.
- Plans, implements, and conducts preventative care, safety, and compliance training programs.
- Provides all non-warehouse Showroom teams with guidance on health and safety and confirms that project sites fulfill industry, local, state, and federal guidelines and regulations.
- Collaborates with management to develop and maintain an Emergency Action Plan for each market
- Serve as a secondary contact for accident, incident notification, investigation, and case management.
- Build and manage emergency evacuation drills and assess performance to improve policy and procedures.
Requirements
- Three to five years of experience in a safety role in the same field
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental safety or a similar field preferred
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel and experience with other Microsoft Office applications.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with all levels of the organization; ability to write clear, concise correspondence to internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to identify, collaborate, and problem-solve issues
- Detail-oriented with a focus on identifying root cause issues, summarizing findings, and proposing solutions.
