The role emphasizes the necessity for experience with medium to large-scale heavy civil projects, including roadways and bridges, with project budgets exceeding $30 million. Responsibilities:
- Project Planning and Management:
- Review contracts and specifications thoroughly.
- Provide assistance to the Project Manager, Superintendent, and other Project Engineers as needed.
- Contribute to all aspects of project scheduling, including preparation and updates.
- Financial and Resource Management:
- Assist with quantity reporting, monitoring project costs, and forecasting future expenses.
- Obtain pricing for change orders from subcontractors and vendors.
- Manage requisitions for equipment and material deliveries.
- Coordination and Communication:
- Coordinate efforts between subcontractors, suppliers, and the workforce to mitigate project challenges and resolve conflicts.
- Assist with monthly billing processes, cash flow projections, and the processing of change orders.
- Document and Compliance Management:
- Oversee document control, including managing submittal schedules, contract documents, and project record drawings.
- Ensure the accuracy of daily reports through the Heavy Job reporting system.
- Prepare and maintain a technical submittal list and ensure compliance with various notice requirements (e.g., inspections, testing, claims).
- Project Closeout:
- Assist with the project closeout process, including final documentation and settlement of accounts.
- Additional Duties:
- Perform other tasks as directed by the Project Manager.
Requirements
Job Requirements:
- Education: A Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, with an emphasis in Construction Engineering and Management (CEM).
- Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience in the civil construction field, with a blend of office and field roles, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of heavy civil projects.
- Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for effective coordination and project documentation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word is required, along with experience in Primavera P6 and possibly Primavera 3, for project scheduling and management.
