Fetch Veterinary is a leading veterinary hospital dedicated to providing excellent care to pets in our community. We are currently seeking a skilled and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our Radiation Oncology department. As a Veterinary Technician in Radiation Oncology, you will play a crucial role in providing specialized care to pets undergoing radiation treatment for cancer.
Responsibilities:
- Assist veterinarians during radiation therapy sessions, including setting up and operating equipment
- Handle and restrain pets during procedures and treatments
- Administer sedation and induce anesthesia
- Monitor sedated and anesthetized patients
- Prepare, calculate and administer medications as prescribed by veterinarians
- Monitor patients and document their vital signs and response to treatment
- Assist with diagnostic tests and procedures, such as imaging studies and laboratory work
- Maintain and update patient records
- Provide compassionate care and support to pets and their owners
- Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the Radiation Oncology department
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Certification as a Veterinary Technician is preferred
- Previous experience working in a Radiation Oncology or Oncology department is highly desirable
- Strong knowledge of veterinary procedures and techniques
- Proficient in anesthesia and sedation monitoring
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle and restrain animals of various sizes and temperaments
- Attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Experience with radiation therapy equipment is a plus
