Sigma Defense has an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Engineer/Circuit Board Design Engineer at our Perry, GA Headquarters. Our team in Perry designs, integrates, tests, and fields small form factor tactical satellite communications (SATCOM) and networking hardware for the Department of Defense and the Intelligence Community.
The Sigma team takes a non-traditional, innovative approach to solving incredibly challenging technical problems within the networking and communications domain. Sigma's expertise is in developing, integrating, testing and fielding small form factor hardware appliances for tactical applications in extremely small power-constrained environments.
The ideal candidate has prior experience designing carrier boards and knowledge of CISCO networking.

Requirements
- At minimum 5 years of related experience.
- Prior work with a small engineering team.
- Use of software programs to model PCB design and functionally.
- Ability to create engineering drawings (Gerber, Centroid) that are provided to manufacturers for production.
- Prior design of DoD/Military networking components and compliance with MIL-STD-810 and MIL-STD-461.
Preferred Experience Includes:
- CISCO Boards or CISCO products.
Education Requirement:
- Bachelor's degree in from an accredited college or university in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
Software/Programs:
- Use of ECAD tools such as: SolidWorks, Altium, Autodesk EAGLE.
Candidate Differentiators:

- Essential Job Duties (not all-inclusive):
- Work with staff and government customer on the design and development of printed circuit boards for high-speed networking and forward edge processing capabilities.
- Own full responsibility for PCB layout and Cable harness by supporting the planning of circuit design and manufacturing activities.
- Create and manage standardized part libraries, develop PC board designs utilizing Electrical Computer-Aided Design (ECAD) software design suite tools, write specifications, and generate circuit board manufacturing data and drawings.
- Work from preliminary schematics, notes, part lists, rough or detailed sketches, basic descriptions of board functions, and configurations and arrangements defined by technical staff.
- Provide direction to less experienced PC board designers and engineering staff.
- Work closely with PCB fabrication companies to ensure impedance design targets are met while meeting manufacturability constraints for high volume production.
- Responsible for generating all engineering documentation required to fabricate the PBB designs including ECOs, Gerber databases, and fab drawings.
- Assist in the development of test plans to verify PCB functionality.
- Resolve PCB design issues with fabrication and manufacturing vendors.
- Participate in and provide recommendations into the PCB design specifications and standards with respect to product design, electrical design, manufacturing, and various regulatory agency requirements to conduct trade-offs necessary to meet design goals and produce high quality PCBs at the lowest cost and schedule.
Salary Range: $80,000 - $125,00 annually.
