Buyer (Direct Materials)

The Buyer will provide ownership for purchases made by the organization which will include vendor evaluation and inventory management. We are seeking an individual with great attention to detail, and a strong understanding of manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead purchases for organization across multiple raw materials categories (resin-based products, shipping supplies and other items as necessary to support Operations) and suppliers.
• Review inventory levels and adjust Kanban stocking targets
• Work with the Sourcing Manager to help develop and implement cost-saving initiatives.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, ensuring timely delivery of materials and resolving any issues that arise.
• Monitor and analyze inventory levels to optimize purchasing decisions and maintain appropriate stock levels.
• Work closely with Operations Team to ensure that materials are on hand to support all production requirements.
• Utilize ERP to track and monitor order status, payments, and deliveries.
• Evaluate supplier performance based on key performance indicators and implement corrective actions where necessary.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration, or a related field strongly preferred.
• 3-5 years proven experience as a purchasing specialist/buyer in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficient in using ERP and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to work both autonomously with little direction & collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Energetic, analytical, self-motivated, dependable individual with good communication and people skills
• Familiarity with the INFOR ERP System a plus.
