Position Summary
Capital Impact, seeing the need to offer pathways for real estate developers to grow and succeed to vision and deliver impactful housing and other developments, created the Equitable Development Initiative (EDI). The EDI is a multifaceted program aligning education, networking and access to capital for these growing developers seeking to hone their expertise as builders and business owners. Capital Impact began the EDI in Detroit and expanded it to the greater Washington DC region, San Francisco Bay area, and Dallas. We are launching a similar program in Austin for small scale developers. To date Capital Impact has graduated 200 alumni since the EDI began in 2018, and has an additional 42 participants currently in programs geared for more advanced developers.
Capital Impact seeks highly organized and self-motivated internsto support the National Programs team to serve in various capacities in our highly collaborative environment and mission focused team, supporting the launch of new training programs for real estate developers, including the EDI, and programming to support small businesses. The ideal candidates are committed to our mission of building inclusive and equitable communities by providing people access to the capital and opportunities they deserve.
Internships will be for 3 months and will be 40 hours a week.
Atlanta Programs Internship - The Intern will work with the Atlanta Programs Team to support the launch of Equitable Development Initiative (EDI) programming in Atlanta. EDI Alumni, program participants, and partners. The Intern will:
● Support August 2024 EDI launch planning and initial meeting. Work with the internal partners to identify and secure locations for cohort meetings and coordinate logistics.
● EDI application support, including: facilitating application collection and pre-screening, coordinating application review, and scheduling interviews with applicants and reviewers. Collect pictures, bios, etc to build a “year book” of participants. Facilitate outreach and scheduling with external partners, potential speakers, and other program stakeholders
● Identify and create a catalog of real estate professionals and funding initiatives in the Atlanta area that will serve as a resource to participants of the Equitable Development Initiative. Activities may include interviews with partner organizations, professional service providers, and/or surveys and graphic design.
● Create external-facing resource documents for multiple audiences, including EDI applicants who are not accepted into the program, EDI alumni looking for professional services or project financing, etc.
● Source local speakers and enhance local content for EDI Curriculum development by coordinating with Atlanta EDI Manager.
● Coordinate with Atlanta Initiatives Manager and local partners to ensure in-person events are planned and run smoothly by supporting all logistics for virtual and in-person events, including assisting with the launch of a professional, high-quality learning series experience.
● Produce written materials (program narratives, PowerPoint decks) to communicate information about the program to diverse audiences.
● Support other Momentus Capital Atlanta-based market activities and personnel as needed.
Requirements
● Experience with learner management systems (as either student or instructor) a plus
● Strong interest in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
● Strong operational and execution skills (planning, problem solving etc.).
● Demonstrated capacity for independent judgment and sound decision making in a diverse and complex organizational environment.
● Strong written and oral communication skills (e.g., presentations, periodic reports).
● Proficiency in Microsoft programs (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google suite (e.g., Google Docs, Sheets) is required.
Benefits
The salary range for this position is $18-$20, depending on education.
This role is hybrid, but the ideal candidate must me located in the Atlanta metro area.
