Exciting Opportunity for a Chemical Plant Controls Engineer in Augusta, GA
Join our dynamic Engineering Team at a leading global chemical company. As a Chemical Plant Controls Engineer, you will tackle key projects to enhance control systems, aiming to optimize operational efficiency, reduce costs, and boost safety measures. This role involves collaborating on the design of new facilities and refining existing control schemes to elevate product quality and manufacturing performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and enhance the performance of the site’s DCS and Safety Systems.
- Assess and improve control and safety functions to boost efficiency, quality, and safety compliance.
- Develop new control strategies and modify existing setups to maximize operational effectiveness and investment returns.
- Provide pivotal support during the construction and commissioning of control systems for capital projects.
- Offer expert advice and technical support to Operations and Maintenance teams, addressing operational and equipment control issues.
- Maintain and update the site’s operator training simulators and actively participate in safety and environmental stewardship initiatives.
- Represent the site at national instrument or controls seminars and serve on Corporate Maintenance and Reliability Committees.

Requirements
Background:
- BS Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited University
- 2 years of experience in electrical/controls/programming - Required
- Packaging Machinery experience - Preferred
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Practical experience with Electrical CAD software.
- Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Excellent motivational skills and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to travel both Domestic and International
- Provide standard machinery controls design for solving our customer's packaging needs.
- Responsible for accuracy of calculations in reference to electrical and pneumatics required for designing automation mechanisms and equipment.
- Research purchased electrical components for adequate sizing and selection of various electrical devices.
- By using AutoCAD 2D develop working electrical layout drawings, control cabinet drawings, and pneumatic layout drawings for production and customer usage in component identification.
- Assist in cost reduction and quality improvement of the electrical designs for our machinery.
- Understand customer's electrical specifications and needs for their packaging operations.
- Assist technical writer in creation of machine documentation.
- Provide programming for standard equipment upgrades, and all custom packaging machinery.
- Participate in start-up and commissioning of machinery in plant and occasionally at customer’s facility.
