Position Overview
The Extended Care Teacher will be responsible for supervising and engaging with students before/after regular school hours, providing a safe and nurturing environment for them to unwind and participate in enriching activities. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children, excellent communication skills, and the ability to create a positive and inclusive atmosphere.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise students in the before-care/aftercare program, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
- Plan and implement age-appropriate activities to engage students and promote their social, emotional, and cognitive development.
- Assist students with homework assignments and provide academic support as needed.
- Foster a positive and inclusive environment where all students feel valued and respected.
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding students' progress and any concerns or issues that may arise.
- Collaborate with school staff to coordinate activities and ensure a seamless transition between the school day and before-care/aftercare program.
- Maintain accurate attendance records and ensure compliance with program policies and procedures.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and stay current with best practices in aftercare programming.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the aftercare coordinator or school administration.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
- Previous experience working with children in a school or childcare setting.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Knowledge of child development principles and age-appropriate learning activities.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of students and accommodate changing schedules or circumstances.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
- Ability to pass a background check.

Compensation
The compensation for this role is $20/hour. Up to 20 hours per week.
