Position Overview:

The FinOps Engineer will play a key role in developing and executing financial operations strategies related to cloud resources. This role combines financial acumen with technical expertise to optimize cloud expenditures, manage budgets, and implement cost-saving measures. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that cloud financial operations align with organizational goals and deliver maximum value.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

• Financial Strategy Development: Create and implement strategies for managing and optimizing cloud expenditures. Develop financial models and forecasts to support strategic decision-making.
• Cost Optimization: Monitor and analyze cloud spending to identify opportunities for cost savings. Implement and manage cost control measures, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
• Budget Management: Develop and oversee cloud budgets, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and providing insights on variances and financial performance.
• Cost Allocation: Implement and manage cost allocation strategies to ensure accurate tracking and reporting of cloud expenses across different departments and projects.
• Vendor Management: Engage with cloud service providers to negotiate pricing and manage contracts. Evaluate and recommend cost-effective solutions and service plans.
• Reporting and Analysis: Generate and present detailed financial reports and dashboards to stakeholders. Provide actionable insights based on data analysis to drive financial efficiency.
• Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, finance, and operations teams to align financial strategies with cloud architecture and operational requirements.
• Policy and Governance: Develop and enforce policies and best practices for cloud financial management. Ensure compliance with financial controls and regulatory requirements.
• Tool Utilization: Leverage FinOps tools and platforms to track, analyze, and manage cloud expenditures effectively.

Qualifications:

• Experience: Proven experience as a FinOps Engineer or in a similar role with a strong focus on cloud financial management.
• Cloud Financial Management: Deep understanding of cloud financial operations, including cost optimization, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and execute financial strategies that align with organizational objectives and drive cost efficiencies.
• Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills with experience in financial reporting, data analysis, and cost modeling.
• Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and FinOps tools. Technical background is a plus.
• Collaboration: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate financial concepts clearly.
• Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing financial challenges.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., Certified Cloud FinOps Practitioner) are a plus.
