Organizational Overview:
Since being founded locally in 1985, Make-A-Wish Illinois has granted more than 18,000 wishes and continues its mission to share the power of a wish with children in all 102 counties across the state.
A wish can be a game-changer for a child with a critical illness. This belief guides us in everything we do at Make-A-Wish. It inspires us to grant life-changing wishes for children going through so much. Life-changing wish journeys are made possible by dedicated staff and volunteers who fulfill the work of our mission, helping children discover, create, fulfill and experience the lasting impact of their most heartfelt wish.
The Community Events and Walks Intern is responsible for assisting with the administration of Make-A-Wish community fundraising events, including the annual Make-A-Wish Walk for Wishes.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Events include Walk for Wishes, Kids for Wish Kids®, Wish Makers on Campus®, and all other external events.
- Assisting with community outreach and research.
- Coordinating event logistics including: processing license agreements, conducting outreach calls, event setup and event debriefs.
- Creating marketing and stewardship collateral for corporate donor programs, authoring wish stories for fundraising collateral and stewardship frames, and performing other duties as assigned.
Time Commitment: Internship will take place from September through December. Part-time, hybrid work with one day in the office per week and remainder of work completed remotely.
Requirements
Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Solid organizational abilities
- Detail oriented
- Desire to contribute to the mission of Make-A-Wish.
Preferred Qualifications:
Coursework Business, Non-Profit Management, Events Management, Marketing, Communications, and/or Graphic Design
Additional Requirements:
- Must be able to work in a hybrid environment and commute to our downtown Chicago office one day per week
- Minimum age for all internships is 18
- Selected candidates will be asked to participate in a criminal background check.
