Gould & Ratner, LLP, is seeking a Senior Level Associate/Partner to join its Construction Practice. The ideal candidate will have significant experience with all aspects of construction transactions, including negotiating and drafting project contracts.
Candidates can look forward to gaining direct client interaction, business development experience, and significant responsibility relating to complex commercial projects such as manufacturing facilities, office construction, and data centers, and high-end residential construction projects in Chicago and throughout the country. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who is highly motivated and interested in representing primarily sophisticated owners and developers before, during, and after in connection with these projects.

Requirements
· 6-12 years of experience in drafting construction contracts.
· Experience negotiating and drafting contracts for both commercial and high-end residential projects, including experience with the range of AIA Contracts for all sizes and scopes of project, including contracts between owners and general contractors, architects, consultants, construction managers, consultants, and others.
· Experience in helping clients identify, analyze, prepare, and defend claims arising during the project, relating to scheduling issues; scope claims; delay claims; acceleration claims; termination claims; defect claims and other claims.
· A basic knowledge of construction insurance, including the ability to work with risk managers in advising clients about the appropriate type and coverage amounts of insurance for projects.
· Strong drafting, writing, analytical, interpersonal and communication skills.
· A willingness to work with clients to assemble an internal project team and to assist clients in selecting the external project team as well and to provide pre-construction counseling to client.
· The ideal candidate has the ability to work as part of a team while also having the confidence and demeanor to assume individual responsibility for matters involving direct client interaction. This attorney will serve as a business advisor to clients in all aspects of construction.
