JOB SUMMARY
The Manufacturing Engineer innovates, optimizes, and troubleshoots new product introduction and commercial manufacturing processes throughout the lifecycle to improve process/product robustness, reduce cost, and eliminate waste. Design, develop, and optimize process simulation techniques for process optimization and scale-up. Responsible for building and maintaining a strong and long-lasting culture focusing on continuous improvement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Utilizes the concepts of continuous improvement and cost reduction in the execution of the job function.
- Evaluates customer drawing and specifications for best method of manufacturing.
- Creates models and drawings using Solid works and Bysoft software.
- Oversees equipment programming such as robotic welding cells, press brake machines and turrets.
- Initiates, prepares and completes all necessary Methods of Manufacture [Bill of Material and Router] related to the manufacture of a part to the customer’s print.
- Engineers fixture, tooling or gauge as required. Researches and Develops tools and processes.
- Provides engineering/technical support to day-to-day plant operations and maintenance for specific departments in the workshop.
- Uses Epicor MRP software to input, track and locate information as needed in accordance with established company guidelines.
- Contacts customers or vendors as required to discuss and clarify technical issues.
- Works effectively with all department personnel and co-workers in a harmonious and cooperative manner to meet the needs and goals established by the company.
- Works independently with minimal daily supervision.
- Responsible for performing additional related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS / ATTRIBUTES
- High proficiency in blueprint reading including GD&T and inspection techniques.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret general reports, technical blueprints, procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Practical work experience in the use of Solid Works software applications is essential.
- Sound understanding of welding process and work holding fixture design.
- Excellent troubleshooting or problem resolution skills.
- Excellent computer skills to perform data input and inquiry. (i.e. MS Word, Excel, Adobe, etc.)
- Good knowledge of related sheet metal equipment, basic tooling, or material requirements.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s in engineering (related field of study) or 2 year technical certification with equivalent related engineering or sheet metal experience required.
- Internship or previous work experience in engineering or related sheet metal environment
- Experience with inspection methods for various tolerance requirements [up to ±. XXXX] preferred.

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
· Regularly required to stand and reach the duration of shift, 8-10 hours.
· Occasionally required to walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or bend.
· Frequently required to perform repetitive or short-cycles work.
· Regularly lift, push, or pull up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
· Strong work ethic: Willing to work OT to meet tight deadlines as needed.
· Understands and observes all necessary safety procedures: safety glasses, shoes, ear protection, machine interlocks, lifting guidelines, etc. as designated in specific work area assigned.
