Duties and Responsibilities
The assistantship is a part-time position that will begin on August 1st, 2024 and includes tuition remission, a partial meal plan, and a stipend per semester.
- Implements and monitors safe and effective strength and conditioning programs to improve physical performance for all student-athletes.
- Test and analyze available data on strength and conditioning of new and returning student-athletes to identify potential levels of physical ability.
- Design training strategies for both injury prevention and to improve sport specific performance.
- Maintains accurate strength and conditioning records.
- Serve as the Helwig Recreation Center building supervisor on a weekly schedule.
- Complete other duties as assigned by the Wellness and Recreation Director, Assistant Vice President for Athletics and Sport Management, and Associate and Assistant Athletic Directors.
- Instructs, educates, and supervises all student-athletes regarding proper weight training and flexibility techniques.
- Helps develop and coordinate the schedules of student-athletes while in the weight room.
- Maintains consistent communication with coaches and Wellness and Recreation Director.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree is required.
- Applicants must obtain acceptance in a North Park University graduate program.
- Applicants must be able to work an untraditional work schedule (i.e. frequent nights and weekends).
- One year of experience is required in positions involving the development and management of sport-specific individual and group strength training programs for men and women.
- Adult CPR/AED with standard First Aid Certification is required upon the start of the position.
- Must have one of the National Strength and Conditioning Certifications: Certified Strength and Conditioning Certification (CSCS) or Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) or Certified Strength Coach (CSC) upon start of the position.
