Parallel Works is a Chicago-based startup focused on technical computing for science, engineering and business applications. The Parallel Works SaaS platform makes high performance computing (HPC) workflows easy, fast and collaborative on hybrid cloud and supercomputing environments. The platform acts as middleware between these wide ranges of computing resources and allows organizations to leverage their resource, billing and user hierarchies in a uniform way. The Role
This position involves development and enhancement of the Parallel Works platform, which runs on all three leading public cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, Google and Oracle Cloud. You’ll work with cloud APIs, workflow management frameworks, container systems, resource management tools, and parallel programming tools and libraries, OS performance measurement and monitoring tools, HPC schedulers and debuggers. This will be a support heavy role providing level 2 and 3 support, and will take care of the day to day support requests that come in from customers.
Requirements
- Managing and monitoring all installed systems and infrastructure
- Installing, configuring, testing, and maintaining operating systems, application software, and system management tools.
- Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks.
- Become highly fluent with the entire platform, be able to demonstrate it to current and potential customers, and engage with current and potential customers regarding platform customization and feature evolution.
- Work closely with the platform/UI/API developers to support and grow the overall platform product and service Provide
- 2nd and 3rd level support
SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS
- at least 2-3 years of experience with system administration / support for linux and/or cloud systems.
- Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- High performance data transport tools (CSP tools, Globus, Skyplane)
- Solid cloud experience: AWS, Azure, Google, Oracle
- Experience with containerization (Docker, k8s)
- Solid Scripting skills (bash required)
- Familiarity as a user on campus/company clusters
- Experience using or administering HPC clusters in the requested skills
