Position Title & Overview:
The Sr. Director of Business Intelligence will have the opportunity to establish this function and build a team for Mediavine, including; setting strategy and developing a roadmap to support a data-driven organization. This is a critical role that will operate as a complementary function to Data Engineering, building a comprehensive view of Mediavine’s data, using that data to drive improvements, eliminate inefficiencies, and quickly adapt to market changes. Interacting with executives and key stakeholders, the ideal candidate will set the standard of reporting excellence for Mediavine. This role will report directly to our Chief Legal & Operations Officer.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Establish and lead the Business Intelligence function, focusing on defining and evolving the future state of BI in alignment with Mediavine’s strategic objectives; including managing data analysis, interpretation and delivery of insights
- Drive comprehensive evaluations of business needs, developing tailored BI strategies that support critical decision-making processes
- Collaborate effectively with executives and stakeholders ensuring alignment on BI strategies and insights to support key business initiatives
- Lead comprehensive evaluations to surface business needs developing and implementing tailored BI strategies that drive decision making
- Lead and manage a highly productive BI team focused on producing data insights both accurately and efficiently in the development of tools, methodology and processes that support the business intelligence function and team
- Establish KPIs for key business functions as well as both short and long term business goals
- Collaborate closely with the Data Engineering team to facilitate seamless data integration, ensuring robust data supply for comprehensive analysis
- Partner across the business with key stakeholders providing critical data insights and actionable recommendations
- Develop, educate and manage to effective data governance standards ensuring data integrity, security and compliance across all BI initiatives
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement; challenging yourself and the team to identify and incorporate new industry benchmarks
- Contribute to revenue management by providing metrics to measure current and future trends as well as quickly identifying opportunities to increase profitability
- Partner with Revenue and Finance to develop forecasting used to set commission plans
- Manage BI systems and tools, continuously evaluating and integrating new technologies
- Travel for meetings, retreats and industry events as necessary, approximately 30% of the time
Requirements
Location:
- Applicants must be based in the United States
You Have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business/Computer Science/IT or related field; Master’s degree in Data Science or Analytics preferred
- 10+ years of progressive experience in Business Intelligence or Data Science, in the technology space, Ad Tech preferred
- 5+ years of people management experience; to include hiring and performance management
- Current or prior experience in a technology focused, agile, fast pace, start-up environment, preferred
- Experience building a Business Intelligence team, preferred
- Extensive knowledge of BI concepts, methodologies, tools, and technologies (e.g., data warehousing, ETL processes, data visualization, predictive analytics)
- Expert level proficiency in BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI, QlikView, Domo or similar
- Experience working closely with Engineering, Revenue, Finance and Operations business functions
- Proven ability to utilize business acumen to drive strategic decisions, forecast business impacts and align company goals with overall company objectives effectively
- Experience working in a highly collaborative environment with the ability to influence and build strong relationships both internally and externally
- Proven track record of compiling data in comprehensive reports, analyzing trends and making fact-based recommendations
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets and generate actionable insights
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical information
- Proficient with Google Suite and Slack
- Project management experience with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage competing priorities effectively

At Mediavine, base salary is one part of our competitive total compensation and benefits package and is determined using a salary range. Individual compensation varies based on job-related factors, including business needs, experience, level of responsibility and qualifications. The base salary range for this role at the time of posting is $195,000 - $235,000 USD/yr.
