Full Job Description
Position Location: Corporate Office - Hammond, IN.
Department: Training & Compliance
The position is responsible for administering a combination of classroom and on the job "field" training. Both areas will focus on driver training/understanding, ride alongs, road testing, training follow up, and proactively engaging the driver group for compliance. The position will also focus on areas including (but not limited too) the safe operation of a commercial motor vehicle, the use of forward facing camera systems, the transportation of hazardous materials (bulk liquid), and supporting the compliance of all Department of Transportation rules and regulations.
The ideal candidate for the position will possess strong communication skills, organization, problem-solving techniques, as well as a proficient knowledge of DOT regulations. Additionally, trained OHSA experience is a desired plus to the role, but not required. The position itself is very flexible and will require patience, persistence, and a strong sense of team building. Finally, the position is very "hands-on" - so if you're not afraid to roll up your sleeves, get to work, and have some fun while doing it... this is your calling!
Requirements
Qualifications, Skills, and Knowledge:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Proven background in safety, transportation, compliance, and EHS. Specific focus on commercial motor vehicles.
- In-depth understanding of DOT rules and regulations.
- Proactive and capable of identifying opportunities without needing explicit instruction or guidance at every step
- Excellent communication skills. Capable of clear and effective interactions with diverse groups.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, and Word, among others.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- 50% office & 50% in field.
- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors, sometimes in varying weather conditions.
- Physical strength to lift/carry items weighing up to 50 pounds on occasion.
- Ability to climb ladders in excess of 10 feet and work from heights on occasion.
