Full Job Description
What You Will Do
As a Phlebotomist, you will demonstrates confidence and skill in the application and management of venipuncture in a highly specialized, complex collection environment.
The Opportunity
- Reviews laboratory schedule: resolves or verifies orders as complete in the electronic medical record
- Correctly identifies patient and record by name/date of birth
- Explains process and reassures patient and/or family member(s)
- Performs venipuncture/finger sticks per order
- Captures and reports important medical data to nurse/provider
- Responds quickly to syncopal episodes; notifies nurse/provider
- Processes, packages, and stores specimens for courier pick-up or mailing
- Orders and maintains adequate laboratory supplies
- Maintains a clean, organized environment demonstrating a commitment to infection/exposure control and quality assurance
- Terminally cleans lab at close of business
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum 6 months of phlebotomy experience
- Knowledge of best practice guidelines and well-practiced in the safe handling of technical devices for procuring blood/urine specimens and capillary puncture
- Valid Indiana Driver’s license and automobile insurance
