Full Job Description
Lumina is looking for a hands-on engineer wanting to work with real equipment on a pilot scale and then support implementation on a larger scale. Lumina runs mineral processing with multiple types of equipment, including grinding, classifying, magnetic separation, optical sorting, wet milling, wet classifying, agglomeration, surface treatment, and many more. This role will explore testing materials through these processes in a pilot plant and help develop new procedures for scale-up and manfucaturing.
Lumina is looking for a candidate with hands-on unit ops experience with minerals or related material. The employee will need to be safety conscious to setup and run equipment properly. The candidate must have a problem-solving mentality with creativity supported by solid lab and pilot testing and validation. Must be able to setup equipment, perform basic troubleshooting, and then run material through various unit ops with a mentality of scale-up and production. Samples will need to be appropriately analyzed and compared in a laboratory setting. Equipment selection and researching new technologies and processing strategies is a vital part of the role.
Travel may be required to explore current operations and work on implementation in other locations, including sites in and out of the US.
Requirements
B.S. Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, 5+ years hands-on experience working with, testing, running, and/or installing material handling equipment. This is a hands-on role which will include setting up new equipment, testing equipment, making pilot samples, exploring new processing equipment and technologies, and supporting scale-up of technology and equipment. Ability to communicate both written and orally in English. Ability to travel inside and outside of the US.
