Full Job Description

The Iowa Primary Care Association is actively recruiting for a general dentist for a community health center in Des Moines, IA.

Position Details:

  • Eligible for student loan repayment up to $50,000 for two years of service (and renewal possible)
  • Clinic Hours: Monday - Friday 8AM – 5PM; no weekends
  • Avg # of pts seen per day: 13 with additional hygiene checks
  • Number of operatories: 9
  • Laboratory: external laboratories used for fixed and removable prosthodontic cases
  • X-ray: Digital
  • Current Staff: 1 FT General Dentist, 1 FT Hygienist, 2 PT Hygienists
  • Call Schedule: After 6 months of employment, dentists are expected to take call in 2 week increments approximately 3x/year. Not required to go into clinic while on call.
  • Electronic record system: Epic Wisdom
  • Additional info: diverse patient population with many Spanish-speaking patients and large pediatric patient population.

Requirements

  • DDS/DMD degree from an approved dental school
  • Current license to practice dentistry in the state of Iowa
  • Current license to prescribe narcotics used in patient care (DEA & CSA)
  • Current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers Certification
  • Eligible for hospital privileges
  • Ability to consistently meet the departmental work schedule as designated
  • Ability to treat patients of all ages within the scope of general dentistry
  • Ability to perform surgical extractions
  • Ability to perform anterior root canals

Ideal Qualifications:

  • Bilingual in English/Spanish
  • Desire to pursue a long-term career in community health
  • GPR or AEGD residency completion
  • Interest and experience in pediatric dentistry and oral surgery

  • Your experience and skills determine your base pay. The hiring range for this position is typically $150,000 - 170,000, though highly experienced candidates may earn up to $204,000 per year.
