Full Job Description
The Solutions Architect interfaces across all departments, acting as a visionary to proactively assist in defining the direction for future projects and how IS/IT supports them. They conceive strategies, solutions, build consensus, and sell/execute solutions.
They are involved in all aspects of the project life cycle, from the initial kickoff through the requirements analysis, design, and implementation. Additional responsibilities may include establishing overall architectural viewpoints and oversight of organization standards and policies.
Architects identify major system interfaces, business capabilities, needs, and existing architecture weaknesses and opportunities for systems. Because of these qualifications only unique persons with proven track records in this industry will be considered.
The Solutions Architect will be responsible for, but not limited to:
• Work on multiple projects as a project leader or internal consultant. Consults with project teams to ensure compatibility with existing solutions, infrastructure and services.
• Collaborate with project management on reporting project status, issues, risks and benefits.
• Lead highly complex projects that require in-depth knowledge of one or more specialized architecture areas such as network, security, applications, data, systems and Internet and business segments.
• Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) and provides knowledge and counsel to others.
• Design standard configurations and patterns.
• Coach and mentor, and manage technical staff, including recommending external training as required.
• Align architectural strategy with business requirements.
• Support the sales process with technical assistance and estimating support, especially with advanced or complicated technologies.
• Network and develop strategic alliances with automation suppliers & distributors.
• Communicate with those using technologies to inform of changes that could impact their work.
• Coordinate architecture implementation and modification activities.
• Maintain and/or acquire adequate certifications and licensing for the segment.
• Identify the tools and components used for a project.
• Perform detailed technical tasks.
• Contribute to the development of the information security strategy.
• Utilize, support, and enhance ESCO’s standards and best practices.
• Understand and follow all safety, conduct, and policy requirements established by ESCO and clients.
Requirements
• Completion of a Bachelor’s degree program in engineering or science from an accredited college, technical school, or university and six years or more of related work or industry experience; or
• Completion of other Bachelor’s or an Associate’s degree program in a related discipline from an accredited college, technical school, or university and seven years or more of related work or industry experience; or
• Other equivalent education and experience combinations will be considered with solid evidence of success.
• Experience in a project engineering or project services environment, including the following:
• Knowledge and familiarity with engineering activities including computer programming, networking, software development, data management, and hardware specification.
• Project estimating, proposals, and working with clients during sales process.
• Demonstrated to be highly proficient with computer technologies including but not limited to, Windows Operating Systems, and the use of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Engineering or professional services background strongly preferred.
• Experience in the food, grain processing, seed, or other industrial process industries.
• Advanced degree in engineering.
