  • Compensation: $32 /hr
  • Worksite Location: NCAT Campus
  • Schedule: Day Time for two or more days per week

Overview / Job Summary:

The adjunct instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction and training in Programmable Logic Controls to students in a post-secondary education institution. This role involves providing hands-on instruction, assessing student performance, and promoting a safe and inclusive learning environment. The adjunct PLC instructor may work on a part-time or contract basis, delivering courses and labs as per the institution's schedule.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will vary, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct classroom lectures and practical demonstrations on PLC programing, troubleshooting, and industry standards.
  • Design and administer assessments, quizzes, and practical examinations to evaluate student’ progress and proficiency in PLCs.
  • Works with local, regional and national employers to determine training needs and educational program opportunities and to develop the programs that meet these needs. 
  • Seeks partnerships and contracts for customized training activities and oversees the fiscal, physical and human resources needed to support these activities. 
  • Schedules, arranges, and attends meetings with employers from businesses, industries, and governmental agencies to discuss current training needs and available training resources.
  • Writes applications and proposals, negotiates contracts, completes reports, supervises billing, and maintains documents for all programs funded by grants, special governmental funding, or employer reimbursement.

Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree OR Associates Degree and 1,000 hours certified job experience OR 4,000 hours certified job experience required.
  • Certifications in Rockwell Allen-Bradley or Siemens PLCs preferred.

Requirements, Knowledge & Skills Needed:

  • Extensive experience of Programmable Logic Controls, including communication, programming, and troubleshooting, required.
  • Extensive experience with following preferred:
    • Electronics
    • Industrial Wiring
    • Motors & Motor Controls
    • Instrumentation
    • Industrial Robotics Systems
    • Manufacturing Automation Concepts
  • Advanced user skills are required with MS Word, MS Outlook, and MS Excel.
  • A demonstrated ability to establish and maintain a professional working relationship with a wide variety of individuals coming from diverse backgrounds.
  • Must be able to work a varied work schedule to accommodate the needs of the adult student.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, prioritize workflow, work well with minimum supervision, and accept responsibility for total task completion.
  • Ability to identify and problem solve issues.
  • Knowledge of local job market.
  • Ability to maintain accurate reports and other records.
  • Knowledge of social resources within the community.
  • Ability to work closely with other members or a team for common goals.
  • Effective time management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a timely manner, and the ability to prudently prioritize tasks, projects and goals.
