Full Job Description
The Tools and DI Design Engineer works with a team to design, build, test, and refine tooling systems for the environmental, geotechnical, geothermal, construction, and water well markets. The successful candidate for this position will be able to take a project from concept to completion, taking into account budgeting and operational considerations. This individual will enjoy getting their hands dirty, and working with various drilling equipment. In addition to design, they will work in our various shops manufacturing prototypes, and in the field, operating Geoprobe drilling equipment to test new tools and DI systems. Our engineers enjoy a steady mix of working at their desk, working in the shop, and working in the field.

Job Responsibilities
- Work independently and collaboratively to design and develop new ideas, as well as improve existing products.
- Assume responsibility for all aspects of engineering for the assigned product including:
- Design development and analysis
- Prototyping and manufacturing
- Testing and refining of the product
- Proper documentation
- Create all necessary engineering drawings, bills of materials, and routings needed for manufacturing.
- Occasionally work with sales or service to address customer issues.
- Grow in understanding of systems, processes, and products. i.e. laying the groundwork for future growth in the role.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
- Strong technical base in 3D CAD and engineering fundamentals.
- Experience with machining and/or fabrication is helpful but not required.
- SAP experience is helpful but not required.
- Natural curiosity and a desire to learn is critical to this position.
- Strong attention to detail and follow-through.
- Strong interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), and organizational skills.
- Positive, cooperative attitude (especially in pressure situations) with a commitment to quality work and achieving deadlines.
- Passion for improvement. Inspires others towards excellence.
- Willingness to travel.
- Typical work week is 40-45 hours.
