Full Job Description
Enterprise Precast Concrete is seeking a skilled and experienced Steel Shop Foreman. This position works with the Plant Manager in managing the activities related to the steel shop, including ordering, fabricating, painting, galvanizing, and welding; communicates and collaborates with the other Production and Quality Control personnel to optimize production quality and workflow; and assists the Plant Manager in problem solving and process improvement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Works with the Plant Manager to manage the steel shop operations in a cost effective and customer focused manner.
- Tracks inventory of all steel plates, angles, inserts, and other items utilized in production of precast products and site connections, and provides this information to the Plant Manager so that materials can be ordered in a timely fashion to avoid scheduling delays or work interruptions.
- Meets regularly with the Plant Manager to communicate anticipated production sequences, to discuss potential problems, and to provide opportunity for input on improvement of work processes and work flow.
- Ensures that all steel items for a specific panel or other precast product are assembled, galvanized, welded or painted as necessary and delivered in a timely manner to the proper production areas and job sites.
- Works closely with Quality Control personnel to ensure that all steel items meet specifications.
- Works with the Traffic Manager on scheduling the delivery of items to job sites or to the galvanizers.
- Documents status of steel orders and informs the Plant Manager.
- Serves as a role model with regard to attendance, timeliness, loyalty, mutual respect and support for organizational teamwork and continuous improvement.
- Works with the Plant Manager to track costs related to steel shop operations.
- Assumes responsibility for maintaining plant safety in accordance with Enterprise Properties, Inc. Safety Manual and the direction of the Safety Foreman.
Requirements
- Certified Welder
- 5+ years of Management or Supervisory Experience
- Previous experience working with steel product
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs consistently
- Ability to maintain and operate steel shop equipment
