Accounting Generalist

Summary:
The Accounting Generalist is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operations of the accounting department. This position performs various accounting tasks including general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and assisting with month-end/year-end close processes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Perform general ledger maintenance including recording journal entries, reconciling accounts, and reviewing account balances
- Supervise the Accounts Receivable process, specifically with collections
- Mentor and lead a team of two accounting professionals
- Provide guidance, training and support to ensure team members perform duties effectively
- Assist with the coordination of the month-end and year-end closing processes
- Prepare and distribute monthly and ad hoc financial reports to management
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes
- Participate in the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures
- Assist with internal and external audits
- Provide support for special projects as needed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance or related field
- Proven experience (5+ years) in accounting roles, including general ledger, account receivable and accounts payable functions.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets and other accounting software
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- CPA or CPA candidate preferred
Requirements
This position requires a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance and 1-3 years of relevant accounting experience. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, be proficient in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software, and possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Additionally, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, as well as strong written and verbal communication skills, is necessary for success in this role. A CPA or CPA candidate is preferred.
