Share your love of visual arts with children this summer! Camp Kaleidoscope, the JCC arts day camp in Newton, has a position for a creative, enthusiastic art teacher who can make learning fun. Activities may include drawing and painting, sculpture, collage, mixed-media and more. Teach up to five daily art classes to campers entering grades K-8 (grouped by grade level).
Camp Kaleidoscope draws creative youth interested in the arts, science and the outdoors. Supportive, experienced counselors and teachers guide campers as they develop and build self-confidence. Camp is fast-paced, nurturing and supportive, as both campers and staff develop lifelong friendships.
Schedule
June 17 through August 16, 8:30am – 4:30pm, Mondays through Fridays, Full-time seasonal
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Curriculum development and managing supplies/equipment
- Lead art and craft experiences
- Create a fun/joyful dynamic
- Lead up to 5 activities daily, culminating in exhibits for Arts Night every 4 weeks
- Work in partnership with peers and Camp Leadership to provide a happy, safe and memorable summer for the children
- Contribute, as needed, in camp special events and initiatives
Requirements
Portfolio, degree, or significant experience in visual arts
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted at the JCC’s discretion to meet minimum criteria.

- Experience with children
- Excellent group management skills
- Flexibility in plans and a positive attitude
- Enjoy working with children and a strong desire to make a difference every day
- Ability to multitask and to manage situations effectively and diplomatically
- Ability and commitment to build strong relationships with campers, parents, co-workers, and camp leadership
