Full Job Description
The Attendance and Family Engagement Coordinator ensures that Argosy Collegiate Charter School builds and maintains strong relationships with our scholars, our families, the Fall River community, and across the educational landscape. The ideal candidate is a true “people person” and able to connect with scholars, families, staff, trustees, DESE, funders, and the public at large with agility and professionalism. A successful candidate must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with multiple communication methods; adept at giving and receiving direction; and highly effective in interactions with teachers, families, school leaders, and community partners.
Typical projects include addressing chronic absenteeism; implementing strategies to improve student attendance; supporting operations team with engagement initiatives and events; managing ParentSquare communication, school newsletter and social media accounts; facilitating development of a Family Teacher Organization (FTO) and overseeing meetings and events; managing internal and external communications, including those in Portuguese and Spanish, to ensure that all of our families are informed and have full access to all components of our program.
This position is a full-time, year round position. Working hours are as follows:
- Monday-Thursday- 9:00am to 4:30pm
- Fridays- 7:30am - 3:00pm
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as an important liaison between the school and families, focused on initiatives that engage families and strengthen relationships between home and school.
- Manage school-wide parent communications to have the largest impact; use a variety of media including ParentSquare, phone calls, mailings, text, email, social media, flyers, newsletter, and more.
- Work with Enrollment and Events Coordinator to support scholar recruitment planning and achieve targets for recruitment of new scholars.
- Serve as staff point person for the development of a Family/Teacher Organization (FTO); work in tandem with FTO to offer diverse and meaningful family engagement opportunities.
- Stay abreast of developments in public assistance benefits and community resources and identify the most impactful ways to connect families to needed resources.
- Participate in meetings with the Student Support Team, Deans, and/or Principals as appropriate to problem-solve particular family engagement issues.
- Assist with the centralization of record-keeping of notes and communications with families.
- Pitch in as needed to make sure that the school and the operations team achieve goals.
- Contact parents/guardians regarding habitual attendance concerns; meet with parents to discuss barriers to school attendance and to develop preventative strategies; File truancy concerns with the appropriate authorities and represent the school in truancy proceedings.
- Collaborate with Principals, Assistant Principals, Directors, and School Counselors to address needs of students with multiple/repeated disciplinary issues. These meetings may address the relationship between behavior, attendance and academics.
- Prepare daily, monthly, quarterly, and yearly positive reward and incentive programs, including student assemblies, in conjunction with the Dean of Students.
- Provide main office support and/or coverage during planned and unplanned staff absences.
- Any other duties or responsibilities related to this position as assigned by the School or District Administration.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 3+ years of experience in education, marketing, community outreach, or a related field; experience in K-12 education preferred
- Deep understanding of the families of Fall River
- Demonstrated success with culturally responsive practices in an educational role
- Strong oral and written communication skills (proactive, concise, solutions-oriented, and responsive to email communications); outstanding attention to detail
- Flexible and entrepreneurial with strong problem-solving abilities and a can-do, team-spirited approach; ability to work a flexible schedule outside of regular school hours as needed
- Ability to handle multiple and often time-sensitive responsibilities with confidence, grace, and independence
- Proficiency with data entry using cloud-based systems, including Student Information Systems such as SchoolBrains and LiveSchool
- Proficiency in the following platforms and programs: Google Suite, Word, Excel, WordPress, Constant Contact, Photoshop, Canva, Windows 365, Zoom, Tik Tok, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, etc.
- Fluency in Spanish and/or Portuguese preferred
