Your Title: Auto Subrogation Specialist / Total Loss Adjuster
Our/Your Location: Remote/Anywhere within the US
Your hours: Monday – Friday 8 hours/day
Compensation: $65K+ plus benefits health/dental, other optional coverages, 15 vacation days, allocated sick days
You Report To: Assistant Vice President of Claims
Subrogation Adjusters are responsible for the negotiation and recovery of third-party property-casualty claims. You will directly negotiate with insurance carriers, contractors, plaintiff and defense attorneys, uninsureds, and municipalities. Handling claims is complex and requires a strong understanding of liability and recovery practices. You will also assist our total loss department.
What you will do:
Your duties include, but are not limited to:
Subrogation Responsibilities
- Research, document, and recap coverage and loss information; can include comprehensive and complex calls.
- Communicate over the phone to ensure understanding of reports and documents.
- Perform an evaluation of the loss to determine potential total losses using established procedures.
- Interpret statutes and case laws to build a strong case for coverage and liability.
- File subrogation claims in Arbitration Forums with persuasive arguments.
- Provide prompt, friendly, courteous, accurate, and helpful service including information about the claims handling process, claim number, name of adjuster, and general questions about existing claims.
- Effectively follow appropriate process for assignment of claims to adjusters.
- Contact customers, insureds, claimants, attorneys, or others to obtain or clarify information.
- Perform other various duties as assigned.
Total Loss Responsibilities
- Negotiate and communicate total losses.
- Understand the total loss evaluation methodology processes; be able to effectively communicate these to vehicle owners.
- Have a basic understanding of vehicle financing / leasing.
- Review damage estimates to confirm vehicles are total losses.
- Document all settlements and actions in the claim file system.
- Work directly with salvage vendor to move vehicles; obtain salvage bids where necessary.
- Negotiate and settle claims within one’s individual authority. Submit claims for approval to supervisor for guidance, review, and/or referral when appropriate.
- Escalate to supervisor claims that are not moving in a positive direction.
- Maintain an effective diary system on pending files; prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Quickly adjust to fluctuating workload and responsibilities.
- Update involved parties and agents on the status of the claim and emerging issues.
- Ensure that service, loss, and expense control are maintained at all times.
- Adhere to privacy guidelines, law, and regulations pertaining to claims handling.
- Prepare payments to vehicle owners, banks, and lease companies.
What you bring
- 3+ years handling auto subrogation claims
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to assess and negotiate liability and damages
- Proficient use of MS Office applications and PDF documents
- Decisive and organized, with strong organizational skills
- Adapts to occasional high-pressure situations
- Expert knowledge of CCC, Audatex, and / or Mitchell
- Preferred but not required: Spanish and/or Portuguese Speaker is a plus
