The Capacity Manager at FreightPlus is responsible for overseeing and managing the capacity needs of the TL (Truckload) business segment. This role entails sourcing TL carriers based on long term capacity requirements, developing and maintaining relationships with contract carriers, managing the contract freight RFP process, negotiating with carriers, and providing in-depth insights and analysis on freight markets to internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Source TL Carriers Based on Long-Term Capacity Needs:
- Analyze long-term capacity requirements and trends to identify suitable TL carriers.
- Develop a robust network of TL carriers to meet current and future capacity needs.
- Continuously evaluate and adjust carrier sourcing strategies to optimize capacity and cost-effectiveness.
2. Develop and Manage Contract Carrier Relationships in the TL Business Segment:
- Cultivate strong relationships with contract TL carriers to ensure reliable and efficient service.
- Negotiate contract terms and rates with carriers to achieve favorable agreements for FreightPlus.
- Monitor and address any issues or concerns raised by contract carriers promptly and effectively.
3. Manage the Contract Freight RFP Process and Carrier Negotiations:
- Lead the contract freight RFP process, including gathering requirements, issuing RFPs, and evaluating proposals.
- Conduct negotiations with carriers to secure competitive rates and favorable contract terms.
- Develop and implement innovative strategies to enhance carrier partnerships and drive business growth.
4. Audit and Report on Contract Carrier KPIs:
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for contract carriers and ensure compliance with agreed-upon metrics.
- Conduct regular audits of carrier performance and service levels to identify areas for improvement.
- Prepare comprehensive reports on carrier KPIs and performance trends for management review and decision-making.
5. Provide Comprehensive Insights and Analysis on Freight Markets:
- Stay abreast of industry trends, market dynamics, and regulatory changes affecting the freight transportation sector.
- Analyze market data and trends to provide actionable insights and recommendations to internal stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop strategic initiatives and plans to address market challenges and opportunities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or a related field.
- Proven experience in capacity management, carrier relationship management, and freight procurement within the transportation or logistics industry.
- Strong negotiation skills with the ability to drive mutually beneficial agreements with carriers.
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools to track and analyze carrier performance metrics.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively interact with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to identify opportunities for process improvement and optimization.
- Knowledge of industry regulations, compliance standards, and best practices in transportation and logistics.
Additional Information:
- This is a full-time position based out of our Quincy, MA office, however, we may be open to remote depending on specific experience and skill set
- Travel may be required occasionally to meet with carriers or attend industry events.
