Full Job Description

JCC Greater Boston is seeking a motivated and passionate Coordinator of Family Programs & Events to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with the families in the Greater Boston area, providing support, resources, and opportunities for meaningful engagement within the community. As a Coordinator of Family Programs & Events you will play a vital role in fostering strong connections and creating a sense of belonging for families with young children. This role is highly valued within our organization.

This is a part-time, 10-hour-a-week hybrid position based in Greater Boston. The starting hourly salary is $23.05 - $25.50 per hour and will be commensurate with experience.

The Coordinator of Family Programs & Events is responsible for two key components: conducting virtual visits with new parents as part of the Welcome Baby program and creating and implementing a variety of in-person programs for families with children 0-6 years old in communities throughout Greater Boston.  The Family Programs and Events Coordinator supports the success of these events through needs assessments, innovative program planning, program design, stakeholder communications, logistical support, and staffing on the day of the event. This position is part of the Family Engagement & Jewish Life team, committed to making a difference in families’ lives by providing joyful, meaningful, and non-judgmental experiences for families seeking a Jewish connection.

Responsibilities

  • Creating and implementing a variety of fun, enriching events and supporting the success of those events
  • Conduct needs assessment on a cyclical basis
  • Partner on collaborative strategic planning across the family engagement team offerings
  • Perform program/event planning and execution
  • Requires transporting event/program supplies, including folding wagons and dollies
  • Initiate activities to promote events, programs, and activities successfully
  • Coordinating on-site staffing for events and programs
  • Building relationships with local constituents and program partners, both Jewish and secular
  • Manage day-to-day program and event expenses within the allotted budget
  • Initiate timely processing of invoices and payment of expenses
  • Contact parents who have registered for a Welcome Baby visit; conduct the visit; send follow-up emails and resources and any responses to questions raised during the visit
  • Transfer all visit information to summary spreadsheets
  • Maintain accurate records and data
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Education and Experience: This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 2+ years’ experience in a related field. The candidate must also have strong computer skills, including social media literacy, and proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and videoconferencing technologies such as Zoom.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted at the JCC’s discretion to meet minimum criteria.

  • Must have a valid Massachusetts driver’s license and be able to pass our standard MVR check.  

Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge and familiarity with the needs of families with young children, with a creative ability to translate ideas, feedback, and data into innovative and meaningful experiences that meet the needs of families. Knowledge and familiarity with Jewish communities in Greater Boston, Jewish holidays, values, and culture.
  • Able to design programs that integrate Jewish values to create compelling and joyful experiences
  • Outstanding project management skills from design to implementation, managing deadlines with great attention to detail and maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with parents as well as professionals
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to multitask and manage situations effectively and diplomatically; ability to adapt to evolving needs and circumstances.
  • Must be a self-starter who takes the initiative.
  • Superb interpersonal and active listening skills
  • Works well independently and with others, building/sustaining collaborative working relationships.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Must be open to families from a range of backgrounds and Jewish experiences

   

Physical Requirements:  Able to work well in a busy, dynamic, and sometimes noisy environment involving multiple tasks and priorities. Must have access to an appropriate, private space to conduct virtual visits with new parents. Able to lift, carry, and transport objects weighing up to 30 pounds. Work is often standard deskwork, performed in a standard office environment with no extreme conditions.

This is a hybrid position requiring in-person time in our Newton, MA office and onsite programs in a variety of Greater Boston Communities. The work includes weekend hours (typically 3 hours/event; 2 events/month).
