JCC Greater Boston, a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating a vibrant and inclusive community, seeks enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our team as a Godine Early Learning Center Summer Counselor. As an Early Learning Center Summer Counselor at JCC Greater Boston, you will play a vital role in providing children with a safe, nurturing, and fun experience. In this role, you can plan and implement engaging activities, foster friendships, and create lasting memories for children.
The starting salary for this position is $18.00-$20.00 an hour. The salary offered will ultimately be determined by the scope of the position, the candidate’s relevant experience, and internal equity. This seasonal position will run from June 21st through August 23rd. The schedule will be Monday through Friday, 8:30 am—4:30 pm.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, supervise, and lead a variety of age-appropriate activities
- Create a positive and inclusive environment where children can thrive
- Ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times
- Build meaningful relationships with children and families
- Collaborate with a supportive team of counselors and leadership
- Communicate with parents/guardians regarding children's experiences
- Follow all Early Learning Center policies and procedures
- Assist children with toileting and supervise children inside and outside in all seasons.
Requirements
High School diploma or equivalent.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted at the JCC’s discretion to meet minimum criteria.
Skills & Abilities:
- Experience and a passion for working with children
- Ability to be energetic, flexible, and patient
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team setting
- Commitment to creating an inclusive and nurturing environment for all children
- CPR and First Aid certification is preferred
Physical Requirements: Able to work in person. Requires daily outside playground duties. Ability to climb stairs or hills to outside space for various activities. Must be able to climb stairs with children between floors or in an emergency. Ability to continually bend, kneel, and reach. Lift and carry young children, 20-30 pounds, regularly. Frequently stoop or squat to be at the child’s eye level. Frequently sits on the floor or in very small chairs. Assist children with toileting and supervise children inside and outside in all seasons.
