Mental Health Association - Western MA is seeking an Employment Services Program Manager to join our team. At MHA, we help people live their best life by providing access to therapies for emotional health and wellness, services for substance use recovery, developmental disabilities and acquired brain injury, services for housing and residential programming, and more. With respect, integrity, and compassion, MHA provides person-driven programming to foster independence, community engagement, wellness, and recovery.
As the Employment Services Program Manager, you will play a crucial role in our mission by overseeing and leading our employment services program. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating employment-related programs and services to help individuals with mental health conditions find and maintain meaningful employment. You will collaborate with community partners, employers, and mental health professionals to promote employment opportunities and support individuals in their journey towards employment success. This is a Monday through Friday position that requires some flexibility for evening hours.
Responsibilities
Support individuals to:
- Gather necessary documentation to obtain employment
- Develop resumes
- Learn and practice interview skills
- Complete job applications
- Navigate considerations regarding disclosure
- Understand the impact of employment on financial independence including impact on benefits
- Achieve goals related to employment
- Identify barriers to employment and design interventions to address and eliminate them
- Communicate with their employers to address questions and concerns
- Advocate for employment needs
- Explore vocational interests, experience, and transferrable skills
- Perform other similar or related duties as assigned or as necessary
Operate MHA Job Training Programs:
- Ensure MHA is licensed and registered with all state agencies necessary to provide job-related training
- Manage grant funding from state and private sources for providing training
- Manage SERV safe/line cook training in Memorial Dr. kitchen
- Create/establish trainings for additional job-related skills potentially including CPR, OSHA, Recovery Coaching
Additional functions:
- Provide on-the-job training and support as needed
- Network with local employers to understand industry needs
- Complete documentation requirements including progress notes, data entry
- Perform vocational assessments
- Participate in the development of individualized action and support plans related to employment
- Provide training to staff teams about the role of employment in recovery
- Attend team meetings to ensure clear communication about individuals and employment trends
- Transport individuals as needed
- Represent MHA and DRH at employer networking events
- Serve a member of community committees and workgroups related to vocational rehabilitation
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license, sufficient automobile insurance, acceptable driving record, and a safe reliable vehicle during working hours
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage time, prioritize tasks, take initiative, follow through, and work cooperatively as a member of a team
- Excellent oral, written, computer, and organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to the changing needs of the individuals served
- Strong interpersonal skills, patience, caring, and compassion
- Ability to network and communicate effectively with local business owners
- Must be able to pass and maintain certifications in CPR, and first aid
- Must be at least eighteen years old
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Previous experience helping individuals obtain employment preferred.
- Previous experience working with individuals with mental health conditions, those in recovery from substance use, and/or those who have experienced homelessness required.
- Lived experience preferred
- Bilingual preferred
