We have an exciting opportunity for a Field Application Scientist based anywhere in the Northeast USA. You will be part of a global FAS team that serves as the key interface between our Sales, Support, and Marketing teams to provide expert-level support for our liquid handling suite of products to end-users who are among some of the top labs and researchers across the country.

Your key responsibilities will include:
We are looking for a personable scientist with a strong background in Genomics and Next Generation Sequencing, and an drive to explore automation and the other applications in which our instruments are used. In this capacity, you will work closely with two Territory Managers and will be responsible for running remote and on-site software and instrument demos of our liquid handling product lines, the dissemination of technical product knowledge, training in product applications and techniques, identifying pertinent competitive product information to our product management team and end-users. This role requires excellent communication and relationship-building skills with both our internal commercial team and our US customer base.
The role will require significant travel within the Northeast USA, with occasional travel to the South and West USA and to our UK headquarters. As such, this position shall be based near a convenient travel hub in the Northeast USA. Being that we are a global company, you will be working with colleagues from across multiple time zones and territories, requiring some flexibility in meeting schedules. As our FAS team are home-based, you will have flexibility in your scheduled appointments with customers and colleagues, allowing you to balance your work and personal responsibilities.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Manage and run liquid handling product demonstrations.
- Conduct pre-sales technical presentations and seminars.
- Maintain an expert-level knowledge of our liquid handling products.
- Provide applications-based training to users of newly installed instruments.
- Provide on-going remote and in-person applications support to end-users.
- Nurture strategic collaborations to regularly deliver scientific content for marketing.
- Collate customer feedback (product development, software, etc).
- Contribute to conference strategy and attend conferences.
- Maintain positive customer relationships.
Skills & Attributes
- PhD in a Biological Science discipline (preferable).
- At least 2 years’ laboratory experience working in NGS, with a focus on liquid handling and automation being preferable (HTS, Assay Development, or molecular or structural biology backgrounds will also be considered)
- Good understanding of genomics, drug discovery, and structural biology.
- Practical experience of genomics/molecular biology is desirable.
- Ability and willingness to travel extensively (up to 75%), including internationally.
- Amiable personality.
- Previous experience of field applications, marketing or customer service a plus.
