Role Summary:
The Financial Controller will oversee all accounting, tax, financial reporting, and compliance activities for Zappi. This role is responsible for establishing and maintaining robust financial controls, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and actively seeking opportunities for continuous improvement in all accounting processes, tools, and technologies. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in accounting and finance, strong leadership skills, and experience in optimizing accounting systems and streamlining month-end close processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting:
- Oversee the preparation and presentation of accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with GAAP/IFRS
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and international regulatory requirements and filings
- Manage and oversee the consolidation of financial results across multiple entities and international subsidiaries
- Accounting Operations:
- Lead the global accounting team, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, and tax compliance
- Develop and maintain effective internal controls to ensure the integrity of financial information
- Oversee the month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate completion
- Serving as a technical accounting resource for the team and effectively identifying and sourcing solutions
- Compliance and Audit:
- Manage all aspects of internal and external audits, including preparation and coordination with auditors
- Manage global accounting and tax operations, including all statutory requirements for subsidiaries
- Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory standards
- Financial Planning and Analysis:
- Collaborate with FP&A team to provide financial insights and support for budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning
- Support M&A activities, including financial due diligence and integration of acquired entities
- Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
- Leverage technology and automation to streamline accounting operations and improve financial reporting
- Anticipate and develop robust, scalable global accounting capabilities (processes, systems, policies, organization, and compliance) to support company growth.
- Team Leadership and Development:
- Build and lead a high-performing global accounting team, providing mentorship, training, and career development opportunities
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and accountability within the team
- Oversee a team of 5
- Build partnerships and relationships, across the organization and externally, that lead to the highest levels of collaboration and effectiveness
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification required
- 10+ years of accounting and finance experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
- Experience in the SaaS industry, particularly with usage-based pricing models, is strongly preferred
- Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP/IFRS and other relevant accounting standards
- Strong understanding of financial controls, compliance, and regulatory requirements
- Detail-oriented and passionate about operational excellence, with a strong commitment to accuracy, efficiency, and continuous improvement in all accounting processes
- Proven experience with financial systems and ERP software (e.g., NetSuite preferred)
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Experience in managing and developing high-performing teams
Benefits:
- Salary range $160,000 - $190,000 per annum + bonus + equity. Salaries are benchmarked annually and commensurate with experience and location.
