Full Job Description
What You’ll Do
As a College-Based Math Early College Liaison at Veritas Prep High School you’ll support VPCS students at Springfield Technical Community College (STCC), ensuring students are successful on the college campus in and outside the classroom. You’ll push into Math Early College courses, supervise students during unstructured time, and support students academically and socially as they navigate a full load of classes. You’ll also offer a weekly Early College Lab to help students master the skills and content of the college course.
You’ll also:
- Support students to be successful in Early College classes.
- Attend EC classes and engage from the student perspective by taking notes, previewing coursework, and understanding syllabus and assignments.
- Teach 1 section of Algebra 2 at the high school
- Maintain accurate and complete records of students' academic and behavioral progress and development.
- Provide accurate attendance records and sit in on all assigned college courses.
- Provide instructional and behavior management support of students during classes (as determined by each college professor).
- Serve as a point of contact for STCC faculty, including communicating any faculty questions and concerns to the Dean of Early College.
- Prepare data for and attend biweekly data meetings to track student progress and support all students in the EC classes.
- Ensure students use unstructured time appropriately while on the STCC campus.
- Connect students with various on-campus resources.
- Teach a Seminar course on college and career readiness skills and knowledge.
- Work closely with College and Career Counselors to advise students and prepare Seminar, creating a community where students of all identities feel safe, seen, and included, centering students and fostering student-led discourse, critical thinking, and leadership skills.
- Serve as an advisor for a group of students and support them through full college schedules.
- Support a cohort of students with a focus on Humanities.
- Plan and implement Early College Lab classes to support student success.
- Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons and/or additional instructional materials that support student’s learning of their college course content.
- Encourage, monitor, and provide feedback on the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies.
- Additional functions of the job include but are not limited to the following:
- Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic, and ability backgrounds.
- Promptly return phone calls and answer emails from families, coworkers, and professors.
- Provide operational support to the college-based VPCS team at STCC.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis.
- Ability to use or learn relevant technology.
- Ability to perform in a fast-paced work environment
- Bachelor’s degree
- Strong content knowledge and experience teaching Math content
- Ability to communicate in Spanish (preferred)
- Reliable transportation to and from the STCC campus
- Current authorization to work in the United States – a candidate must have such authorization by his or her first day of employment
