Who You Are: 

Museum of Ice Cream is seeking an enthusiastic and strategic Opening General Manager to lead our team in launching a new location. As the ideal candidate, you are thoughtful, ambitious, and confident in guiding a team of joy ambassadors, performers, actors, and food enthusiasts. Your expertise in strategy, operations, finance, and HR will be crucial in establishing and growing our newest immersive experience.

This location will be based in Boston, Massachusetts.

What You Will Do:

As the Opening General Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the success of our new location. You will have direct oversight over the location business strategy, operational budget, employee population, and financial goals. Leading a team of up to 6 managers and lead along with 50 line level employees. You must be extremely ambitious, able to manage many tasks and work with the C-suite on strategic and programmatic and P&L targets.

Your Day-to-Day:

PEOPLE

  • Lead a team of managers to grow people, building, food, and retail operations
  • Oversee the recruitment, training, and development of managers and over 50 staff, ensuring ongoing professional growth.
  • Structure and conduct quarterly training sessions for staff.
  • Establish and maintain a proactive human resource function to ensure employee motivation, timekeeping, training, scheduling, wage and benefits administration, and compliance with labor regulations.

HOSPITALITY

  • Collaborate with the Assistant and Experience Manager to execute written reviews and rankings for staff.
  • Work with guest experience managers to monitor and enhance guest satisfaction.
  • Ensure health and safety practices for employees and guests, contributing to the maintenance of emergency and security procedures.
  • Develop and maintain standard operational procedures specific to the new location.

PROFITABILITY

  • Collaborate with HQ Operations team to develop and implement monthly, quarterly, and yearly business plans and reporting.
  • Create and implement operating systems and processes necessary for efficient operations.
  • Partner with the HQ team to conceptualize in-store activations and partnerships that resonate with the community and enhance the guest experience.
  • Monitor operating efficiency weekly, assessing costs and analyzing any unwarranted movements.
  • Oversee food, beverage, labor, and operating expenses throughout the department.
  • Provide input to design and production teams for layouts and designs to meet the needs of operations.
  • Develop and improve internal processes for enhanced productivity.
  • Identify, solve, and/or escalate sales-driving or profit-maximizing opportunities and protect the business in response to extenuating incidents.

    This exciting opportunity includes a required training period between our other sites in Chicago, Austin, and New York. Full availability, including weekends, is essential.     The salary range for this role is $100,000 - $120,000 based on experience.

Requirements

The Necessities and Nice-to-Haves:

  • You have a experience or a degree in business, finance, marketing or hospitality
  • Food Handler / ServeSafe certification required
  • Alcohol certification required
  • You have 5+ years of management experience with a physical consumer-facing unit
  • You have experience successfully opening a high-volume establishment as the General Manager
  • You are a strong, diplomatic leader that is enthusiastic about bringing a team together to inspire others
  • You have a contagious, extroverted personality with unmatched energy
  • You are an experienced people manager and truly a people person.
  • You have superior written and verbal communication skills
