What You’ll Do
As a Speech Language Pathologist you’ll collaborate with the Special Education Team to ensure students receive prevention, assessment, and remediation services targeting language, speech, voice, and fluency.
You’ll also:
- Conduct speech, language, and hearing screenings utilizing appropriate screening instruments;
- Provide therapy and consultation services to students based on the individual needs of each student and in compliance with each child’s IEP or 504 plan
- Complete required IEP documentation and write IEP goals
- Plan evidence-based interventions appropriate for individual students and groups of students to foster communicative competence
- Track, analyze, present, and explain data for program planning and decision making for students, modifying therapeutic instructional approaches and other functions as needed
- Provide inclusion support for students receiving speech and language services when necessary
- Perform evaluations within timelines established in state and federal regulations
- Effectively write and communicate diagnostic test results, diagnoses, assessments, and proposed treatment in a manner easily understood by special education team, general education teachers, and families
- Facilitate social pragmatic groups
- Consult with the IST and other teams as needed
- Collaborate and communicate with Veritas Prep staff regarding the needs and progress of students receiving speech and language therapy services

- A dedication to fighting racism in our educational institutions and in daily life and knowledge of the history of race and racism, as well as the systems of oppression our students face
- A master’s degree in Speech and Language Pathology from a program accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)
- A current Massachusetts professional license issued by appropriate licensing board
- Fluency in Spanish (preferred)
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to meet deadlines and effectively manage time
- Current authorization to work in the United States – a candidate must have such authorization by his or her first day of employment

Veritas Prep Charter School (VPCS) was founded in Springfield in 2012 with the mission to prepare students in grades 5-8 to compete, achieve, and succeed in high school, college, and beyond. VPCS now serves more than 370 Springfield students and is one of Massachusetts’ top-performing middle schools.
