Job Title: Summer School Nurse
Location: High School, 225 Carando Drive, Springfield, MA
Dates: July 8th to August 2nd
Times: 8am-12:30pm, daily
Salary: $4,000
Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Summer School Nurse to join our team for the summer session. The ideal candidate will provide healthcare services to middle and high school students, ensuring a safe and healthy school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide first aid and emergency care to students and staff.
- Manage chronic health conditions and administer medications as needed.
- Maintain accurate health records and documentation.
- Develop and implement individualized healthcare plans for students with specific needs.
- Educate students and staff on health-related topics and preventative care.
- Monitor and manage communicable diseases and report cases to appropriate authorities.
- Collaborate with parents, teachers, and other healthcare professionals to support student health and wellness.
- Maintain the health office, ensuring it is clean, organized, and stocked with necessary supplies.
Requirements
What You’ll Need (Qualifications and Licenses)

- A passion for continuous growth as an educator
- Valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Massachusetts
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
- Possess or be eligible for the School Nurse (All Levels) MA DESE license
- Current CPR/AED certification
- Experience as a Registered Nurse in child health, community health, or other relevant clinical nursing setting (preferred)
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply student performance data to instructional planning and execution
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; excellent teamwork skills

About Veritas Prep
Veritas Prep Charter School (VPCS) was founded in Springfield in 2012 with the mission to prepare students in grades 5-8 to compete, achieve, and succeed in high school, college, and beyond. VPCS now serves more than 370 Springfield students and is one of Massachusetts’ top-performing middle schools. Building on the success of VPCS, Friends of Veritas Prep partnered with the Holyoke Public Schools, launching Veritas Prep Holyoke (VPH) in 2018 as part of Holyoke’s innovative turnaround efforts. VPH is a neighborhood enrollment school serving grades 5-8.
We are excited to develop a high school for our Springfield scholars which is tentatively scheduled to launch in the fall of 2022 with 100 students in Grade 9, and ultimately, serving roughly 350 students in grades 9-12.
