Full Job Description
The Urgent Care Clinician will work in a community behavioral health setting, providing services for children, adults and families who are in crisis and experiencing a mental health and/or substance use disorder. Services will include provision of comprehensive assessments for mental health, substance use and co-occurring presentations, development of treatment plans that best ensures for safety and optimizes the effective resolution of the crisis, referrals to community support services and psychoeducation, as well coordination of acute treatment services, as needed, utilizing evidence-based practices. The Urgent Care Clinician will work with the Clinic Director within the Outpatient Clinic’s team model, establishing open communication, support, and accountability among workers and consumers. The Urgent Care Clinician will be required to provide services during evenings throughout the week and on Saturdays, on-site and in-person, at the Outpatient Clinic.
Essential Functions/Position Responsibilities:
- Provide assessment and treatment planning, as well as consultation, as requested, in the development of pre-crisis and crisis plans, behavioral guidelines, risk assessments, positive behavior plans, medication treatment plans, etc.
- De-escalate crises in a manner that ensures safety for all involved and provides for the best care and welfare of the person in crisis.
- Assess needs and implement interventions in accordance with best practice standards for emergency care, crisis resolution, and recovery.
- Complete required documentation in a timely manner, meeting regulatory standards.
- Utilize evidence-based screening tools as indicated by clinical team.
- Work collaboratively with teams/ programs to develop and implement positive behavior support plans.
- Actively participate in all licensing and accreditation processes.
- Serve as a liaison to relevant service systems, state agencies and community partners as needed. Create and maintain open and effective lines of communication in an effort to meet contract standards and promote the mission of MHA within the community. Establish and maintain relationships with local, state, federal, and private agencies and organizations to promote programs and to identify and secure potential new alliances, partnerships and funding sources.
- Pursue activities to enhance personal professional growth. Attend conferences, classes, address groups and represent agency. Attend/participate in statewide meetings, task forces, committees, etc. relating to area of expertise.
- Promote and integrate agency mission, values, philosophy and principles.
- Perform other similar duties as assigned by the Clinic Director.
Requirements
Education and Professional Experience:
- Master’s Degree in a behavioral health field is required
- Professionally licensed or license eligible clinician, from the state of Massachusetts (LICSW, LCSW, LMHC, etc.), is preferred
This role will also require evening hours 4 days a week until 7pm (Monday through Thursday) as well as every other Saturday from 10am to 2pm. Though the person may work remote in the morning, they must be able to be in person between the hours of 5pm to 7pm and on each Saturday worked.
