Full Job Description
New Oakland Family Centers provides comprehensive behavioral health and substance abuse services for consumers across Michigan, in both outpatient and partial hospitalization settings.
Location: Grand Rapids
Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm or other full-time equivalent. Additional hours may be available under Transend Transportation.
Reports To: Director of Behavioral Health Technician Team / Behavioral Health Technician Supervisor / Manager of Behavioral Health Technician Team / Clinical Director / Clinical Supervisor / Lead Behavioral Health Technician / Senior Behavioral Health Technician
Compensation: Hourly Employee; $17-$18/hour. Commensurate with experience.
Position Summary: The FACE to FACE Medical Assistant/Receptionist & Behavioral Health Technician/Driver is a full-time position comprised of multiple clinical and administrative responsibilities related to the FACE to FACE Partial Hospital Day Program. The MA/Receptionist & Tech/Driver also assists with Medical Assistant/Receptionist clinical and administrative duties for the FACE to FACE Partial Hospitalization and Outpatient Programs. The MA/Receptionist & Tech/Driver will work closely with consumers and both clinical and administrative staff across all levels of the organization.

Essential Duties / Functions:
- Acts in accordance with professional standards and the policies/procedures of the facility and actively participates as a positive member of the clinic environment.
- Transports consumers to and from the facility, ensuring compliance with all safety requirements and protocols.
- Co-facilitates group therapy sessions in conjunction with a licensed clinician.
- Interacts with clients daily and assists them in working toward milieu goals.
- Appropriately handles any crisis situation that may occur such as: CPI-approved physical intervention if necessary; CPR if necessary and pursuing eloping clients.
- Oversees and participates in meals and snack times with clients.
- Adheres to rotation schedules; both milieu and monitoring of clientele until under supervision of parent/legal guardian.
- Performs light daily straightening of the milieu to ensure a clean and organized environment. Replenishes supplies as needed to maintain adequate stock levels and support the smooth operation of daily activities.
- Responsible for cleaning up bodily functions (i.e., urine, feces, emesis, etc.) while clients are under milieu care, ensuring a safe and hygienic environment.
- Completes documentation as required by the clinic’s policies and procedures.
- Communicates daily with FACE to FACE staff regarding clinical and administrative issues/activities.
- Learns to design and implement efficient routes for consumer transportation, including but not limited to analyzing traffic patterns, client locations, and scheduling requirements to ensure timely and cost-effective transportation services.
- Assists with coverage to various NOFC locations, as instructed by Behavioral Health Technician leadership team.
- Fulfills all initial and ongoing training requirements.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Answers phones in a polite and professional manner and relays messages accurately and timely.
- Schedules, reschedules, and confirms appointments.
- Responsible for assisting with the opening and closing of the office.
- Collects and records patient payments.
- Ensures that all consumers receive, complete and fill out intake paperwork.
- Obtains vital signs (BP, HR, Wt and Ht) for consumers as directed and documents findings appropriately.
- Assists in confirming/obtaining/updating consents and other required documentation for labwork, including lab requisition forms, H&P, transportation team and other internal and external entities.
- Assists with lab specimen collection (urine only)
- Assists nurse with maintaining first aid kits and medication sample inventory.
- Assists nurse and prescriber with Telehealth processes.
- Completes documentation as required by the clinic’s policies/procedures.
- Fulfills all initial and ongoing training requirements.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions: Staff are to dress professionally at all times per the Employee Handbook. Staff will need to be prepared to be actively involved with consumers.
Requirements
Bachelor/Pre-bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or counseling is preferred. High school graduate or equivalent required. Must be able to work well with all types of people and all populations including children. Must possess a current Michigan Chauffeur’s license. Approved driving record is required.
