Anna's House is looking for a General Manager to oversee and lead all aspects of the daily operations of our breakfast and lunch restaurant in Grand Ledge, Michigan. The General Manager will deliver a high-quality menu and motivate restaurant staff to provide excellent guest service. General Manager responsibilities include maintaining the restaurant’s revenue, profitability, and quality goals. The GM will ensure efficient restaurant operations as well as maintain high production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards. To be successful in this role, the GM will need leadership and management skills and experience in both front and heart (back) of house. The GM must know how to oversee the dining room, check-in with guests, and balance seating capacity. Back of the house management experience is essential, as the GM will be responsible for hiring qualified staff for all roles within the restaurant, setting work schedules, overseeing food prep, assisting on the line, and making sure Anna's House is complying with health and safety restaurant regulations. The GM is expected to lead by example and uplift the Anna's House staff during busy moments in our fast-paced environment. Ultimately, the GM will ensure the restaurant runs smoothly and guests have a pleasant dining experience.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily Front of the House and Back of the House restaurant operations
- Deliver superior service and maximize guest satisfaction
- Control operational costs and identify measures to cut waste and achieve target costs
- Respond efficiently and accurately to guest complaints
- Regularly review product quality
- Schedule, organize, and supervise shifts; filling in where gaps are identified
- Screen, hire, and onboard new employees
- Appraise staff performance and provide feedback to improve productivity
- Estimate future needs for goods, kitchen utensils, and cleaning products and place orders
- Ensure compliance with sanitation and safety regulations
- Manage restaurant’s good image and suggest ways to improve it
- Review detailed reports on weekly, monthly, and annual revenues and expenses
- Promote the Anna's House brand in the local community through word-of-mouth and restaurant events
- Recommend to the Marketing team ways to reach a broader audience (e.g. advertising and social media ads)
- Train new and current employees on proper guest service practices
- Implement policies and protocols that will maintain future restaurant operations
- Gather and analyze guests' feedback and recommend improvements to our menus and service
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements
Education
- High school diploma required
- Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or culinary schooling is a plus
Experience
- Proven work experience as a Restaurant Manager, Restaurant General Manager, Hospitality Manager or similar role
- Familiarity with restaurant management software (e.g. Aloha, Pulse, Restaurant 365, OpenTable and PeachWorks)
Skills
- Extensive food and beverage (F&B) knowledge, with ability to remember and recall ingredients and dishes to inform guests and wait staff
- Proven customer service experience as a manager
- Strong leadership, motivational, and people skills to lead and manage a team in a fast-paced environment and high-temperature kitchen
- Acute financial management skills
- Ability to follow directions and delegate duties as needed
- Excellent communication and attention to detail
Working Environment
- Ability to stand exposure to extreme heat, steam, and cold present in a kitchen environment
- Ability to walk and stand for prolonged periods
- Ability to bend, stoop, and lift frequently
- Must be able to lift, carry, and place up to 40 pounds at a time
- Available to work in shifts, including holidays, early mornings, weekends, and/or mid afternoon
Benefits
- $60,000 - $70,000 annual salary
