Senior Front End Developer at Detroit Labs

As a Senior Front end developer at Detroit Labs you will work with project teams, to build maintainable, accessible, and performant software that meets acceptance criteria. You will write documentation for the software and project to provide everyone with a shared understanding of how things work, and collaborate with other roles to create intuitive, scalable, and secure user experiences. You will review and learn from each other's code, estimate features, and fulfill development commitments to launch software projects on time. Communication is key as you will be asked to provide context and recommendations to non-developer groups, including the client, to aid in solution architecting and scoping out project work.

You are willing to support, mentor, and guide your teammates by providing thoughtful actionable feedback in a way that is conducive to their growth and the success of project delivery.

As a Senior Developer, you will report to the Developer Manager.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years professional experience required, building production-ready, testable JavaScript applications, using technologies such as TypeScript, React, Next.js, MaterialUI, or Tailwind
• Experience consuming web services while being mindful of device resource constraints, networking concepts, including authentication and security best practices
• Experience building custom, responsive user layouts and interactions, including basic animations
• Experience building software with more than one architecture and technical implementation
• Experience with accessibility best practices (WCAG)
• Experience with security best practices (OWASP)
• Experience mentoring other developers working within the web ecosystem
• Willingness to learn and grow in understanding of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion

Responsibilities 

• Write high quality, maintainable, and accessible software for both new greenfield projects, as well as updating existing code bases 
• Review other team members’ code for defects and performance improvements, as well as reflecting on and incorporating other team members’ feedback to improve your own code
• Work with project Delivery Leads, and members of our Business Development team to understand project goals, report progress toward those goals, and communicate roadblocks
• Participate in client presentations, sales presentations, and technical conversations
• Present your ideas clearly to internal and external stakeholders. Manage expectations, and integrate feedback for improvement
• Collaborate with other project roles, such as Designers, Quality Engineers, and Project Managers
• Mentor, coach, and support other developers from all levels. Actively identify growth and support opportunities for team members on project teams, sponsoring members of the team who are ready for the next challenge
