Full Job Description
As a Software Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading and managing a team of software engineers to deliver high-quality software products and solutions. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and other stakeholders, to ensure successful project execution and timely delivery. Your expertise in software development, team management, and technical leadership will be crucial in driving innovation, fostering collaboration, and achieving business objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the on-device software engineering team, including alignment of technical direction
- Craft a strong technical vision for the product’s future, resolve disagreements, and manage quality of deliverables
- Own technical recruitment, onboarding, and evaluation of embedded engineers
- Define and implement best practices, standards related to software development that improve speed, value, and quality; continuously improve these practices
- Serve as an interface between the broader product team and management, including collaboration and consultation with partners
- Advocate and progress team culture, in line with the broader organization; model transparency, including sharing successes and failures
- Support architecture reviews, code reviews, unit and acceptance testing, as well as writing documentation to enable knowledge sharing where necessary
- Manage people and skill set allocations, cross products, to ensure timely feature delivery
- Pair in with the team and code, as necessary
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in a Software Engineering leadership role, preferably ownership from early stages through to launch
- 4+ years of experience developing on embedded systems/IoT devices using C/C++ and/or Kotlin
- Strong understanding in system designs and architecture, microcontrollers, and peripherals
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field
- 2+ years of experience working with AWS or similar Cloud Provider
- Experience with Linux based systems
- Experience cultivating a strong engineering culture in an iterative, agile environment at market speed
- Ability to work collaboratively and navigate complex decision making in a rapidly changing environment
- Highly effective in working with other technical experts, Product Managers, UI/UX Designers and business stakeholders
- Ability to travel in-state and out-of-state or globally
- Ability to work irregular shifts and extended hours, including evenings and weekends

Compensation Range
Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
Base Salary: $129,000 - $180,000 USD
