Full Job Description
As part of a multidisciplinary product development and manufacturing engineering team the Project Engineer will be responsible for engineering support in the definition, design, development, and production transfer of a wide variety of medical devices. This role includes collaborating with internal engineers, operations and key client stakeholders.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The project engineer is responsible for technical project activities to facilitate execution of projects on time and within budget.
- Partners with clients, development, customer service, and operations members in the execution of Product Development Sustaining and Continuation Project efforts.
- Interface with vendors, manufacturing facilities (global and domestic) and various internal groups to resolve design and manufacturability issues of new and existing products.
- Assist in creation and communication of schedules, project plans, tasks and deliverables, and manage time to meet project deadlines.
- May lead troubleshooting and problem-solving efforts related to existing products.
- Support decisions through thorough engineering analysis and data.
- Review and select materials, finishes and manufacturing methods for plastics, metals, and/or components.
- Collaborate with clients and mechanical designers to specify and/or review mechanical drawings and assemblies for accuracy, cost management and manufacturability.
- Work with mechanical designers and outside suppliers to create, modify, and assess part and/or product prototypes.
- Work with software engineers to implement software design updates based on user needs and/or field performance monitoring.
- Performs testing, gathers & analyzes test data to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications.
- Writes, executes and documents design verification and validation tests under supervision of senior engineering staff.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Salary Range for This Position: $90,000-$110,000.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Master’s Degree in Engineering is a plus.
- 3-5 years of experience preferred, preferably in the medical device field.
- Experience in the design and development of interventional catheters or design and manufacturing knowledge of plastics (extrusions, injection molding and/or precision parts), stamping, casting, and/or sheet metal fabrication is required.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with and support mechanical design, review CAD models, part drawings, and BOMs for accuracy and manufacturability.
- Experience in directing small to medium-sized projects.
- Ability to utilize electronic document and project management systems to track work product, deliverables, and progress.
- Demonstrated ability to provide complete and accurate work products, including material selection, designs, drawings, and other documents that accurately reflect product requirements and transition smoothly into production.
- Strong work ethic and professional commitment.
- The desire to both innovate and serve internal and external customers by meeting and exceeding project deliverables and timelines.
- Language Skills:
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, or procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. - Computer Skills:
- Proficiency in Solidworks and Office Suite.
