Pay: $20 -$27 per hour based on experience and certifications

Schedule:
- 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday
- Between hours of 7:00am - 5:00pm
Location: Golden Valley or St. Paul

Job Purpose: You are a focused and self-confident team member. You provide for the care, evaluation, examination, treatment, and support of animals.
What you will be doing:
Customer Service — Interact with customers and provide timely support and counseling on results of the exams or the evaluation process.
Animal Care — Perform treatment and monitoring of animals. Assist in surgery in accordance with established procedures. Evaluate and humanely euthanize animals as required. Responsible for calculating, preparing, administering, and logging medications and controlled substances. Assist in all aspects of the spay/neuter clinic, wellness clinic, and specialty surgeries.
Communication — Listen, pay attention, and be a responsible steward of information.
Support — Greet and respond to customer’s questions, process payment, and open and close the receiving area. Complete accurate data entry in computer system.
Culture — Foster an open and inclusive work environment by modeling AHS’s behaviors and values, consistent with the vision and mission of the organization. Champion a culture of safety and promote meaningful volunteer engagement.

Requirements
What we are looking for:
Schedule — Regular, predictable attendance, punctuality, and availability to work during operational hours as defined by leadership with the expectation to work varied hours.
Communication — Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, must have ability to work as a team member and partner collaboratively with external and internal customers and departments.
Experience — Veterinary technician experience preferred.
Computer Skills — Proficient with computers, specifically, a working knowledge of Microsoft products.
Adaptability — Ability to work in a professional and positive manner with high attention to detail in a variety of situations and the willingness to assist at other sites.
Physical & Emotional Capabilities — Must be able to handle the physical and emotional aspect of work in an animal shelter environment, including the use of and assisting with euthanasia. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Must have a high level of resiliency.
