Under minimal supervision, and in compliance with company policy, the Automation Controls Technician (ACT) supports the engineering design and development of electrical control and automation systems and devices. The ACT collaborates extensively with senior automation engineers and leads to learn, document and preserve automation knowledge that goes deeper than the manufacturing procedures. The ACT will maintain and troubleshoot automation setups to support regular production activities and keep high machine uptime.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL FUNCTONS:

· Mechanically assemble automation setup to designed specifications.

· Provides setup, configuration, troubleshooting and repair of electrical control systems and prototypes.

· Works with 3rd party integrators to assist with design and implement automation projects.

· Assists with testing of systems, devices, and instruments.

· Documents testing procedures, and measures and records performance results following established methods.

· Maintains the inventory of supplies and tools used for testing and maintenance.

· Learn and document operator best practices used in fulfilling manufacturing procedures & processes.

· Collaborate with production management, manufacturing engineering, and cross-functional support teams to identify manufacturing constraints and execute solutions.

· Perform other duties as assigned, based on workload and business need.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

· AS degree in mechanical or industrial engineering or 1-2 years college-level engineering coursework.

TECHNICAL / FUNCTION SPECIFIC:

· Ability to read blueprints and drawings.

· Operational knowledge of industrial machinery, including but not limited to lathes, mills, and presses.

· Universal Robotics basic and advanced training or similar collaborative robotics platform.

· 3D and 2D CAD/CAM experience, SolidWorks is preferred.

· Knowledge of common industrial sensors and actuators.

· Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems.

· Ability to use inspection tools and measurement devices, including but not limited to, calipers and micrometers.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including comfort presenting findings to project teams and senior leadership.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

· Motor skills sufficient to successfully use a computer and any required inspection tools, measurement devices and

manufacturing equipment.

· Ability to sit for extended periods of time as needed, up to 8 hours per day, though possibly more.

· Frequently required to stand and/or walk, up to 6 hours per day, and make frequent trips from the office area to the manufacturing area.

· Ability to independently lift up to 50 pounds as needed.

· Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment when in the manufacturing area, including, but not limited to,

safety glasses and safety shoes and hearing protection.
